Construction Law & Public Contracts

A Section of the Virginia State Bar.

About our Section

Organized in 1979

The Construction Law and Public Contracts Section is a collegial group of over 200 attorneys in public, private and in-house practice interested in the construction and public contracting and litigation, who represent public and private owners, contractors, engineers, architects, manufacturers, and suppliers, and provide a wide variety of legal services including contract drafting and negotiation and dispute resolution, including arbitration, mediation and litigation.  The Section provides a forum for its members to share research, experiences and ideas. Section members receive a discounted registration fee for its annual Fall seminar in Charlottesville, which fulfills the complete annual requirement for Virginia continuing legal education credit.  Members also receive the Construction Law and Public Contracts News, the Section’s semiannual newsletter, and the Construction Law Handbook, a compilation of construction and public contracts-related case summaries updated annually.  The Section also sponsors an annual Federal and State Public Contracts seminar in Fairfax and seminars at the Virginia State Bar Summer Meeting in Virginia Beach.
