Topics to be discussed include:

Virginia Clean Economy Act
Passed last year, the Virginia Clean Economy Act (“VCEA”) will lead to the adoption of unprecedented renewables in Virginia, with a mandate for the Commonwealth’s two largest utilities to achieve net-zero emissions in the next 25 to 30 years. This series of panels will provide an overview of the scope of the VCEA, the possible pathways to net zero by 2045/2050, and the interplay between the VCEA and federal and state policies, including the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative.

Federal Energy Regulation
These two panels will address recent developments at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (“FERC”) including the interplay between (i) the newly issued FERC Order 2222 on distributed energy resource participation in wholesale markets, (ii) FERC Order 841 on storage participation in wholesale markets, and (iii) the Minimum Offer Price Rule (MOPR) governing capacity in the PJM Interconnection.

Legal Ethics with guest speaker Tom Spahn of the McGuireWoods law firm.
