An Overview of VSB Volunteer Opportunities
Virginia lawyers are needed to volunteer on Virginia State Bar boards and committees beginning July 1, 2023. Lawyers must be active members and in good standing with the VSB.
All members of VSB boards and committees serve 3-year terms, July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2026, with two consecutive terms allowed, except VSB Council’s Executive Committee and the Judicial Candidate Evaluation Committee.
The work of the committees is time consuming and can require substantial time to fulfill the requirements of the job. To encourage participation—and recognizing the time commitment—lawyers are generally limited to serve on one committee. The number of available positions is limited, but an attempt to accommodate as many people as possible will be made.
A full explanation of the nominating and appointment process is available on the Bar Service Volunteer Opportunities page.
