VSB Offices Flooded

Update on 7/26/19 at 10:34 a.m.:

The MCLE Deptartment is back online and the call center is operational.

Update on 7/25/19 at 10:45 a.m.:

The Intake Department, which handles complaints against lawyers, is fully functional again.

Update on 7/24/19 at 4:15 p.m.:

Limited membership operations are now up and running. MCLE operations are expected to be back in business by Monday.

There is no change in the July 31 deadline for payment of bar dues. The VSB continues to process dues and MCLE certifications. Mailed dues payments go to an off-site processing center, so very few dues checks are handled at the VSB offices.

Please be patient when calling the VSB with questions about annual dues and fees payment, MCLE certification, and disciplinary proceedings. Expect temporary delays in the Bar’s ability to take and return calls and proceed with cases.

Original post:

One floor of the downtown Richmond offices of the Virginia State Bar flooded Tuesday night, keeping a number of Bar employees from their work today.

Due to extensive interior flooding, the following departments are closed until further notice:

  • Regulatory Compliance (also known as Membership and MCLE)
  • Intake
  • Discipline
  • Bar Services

The Bar asks that lawyers with questions about annual dues and fees payment, MCLE, and disciplinary proceedings exercise patience with the Bar in returning calls and proceeding with cases.

The front desk reception and main phone line, as well as the mail room and other offices were not affected. The Bar’s main number is (804) 775-0500.

The Bar will update this news when phones of the affected departments are back online. We will continue to process dues and MCLE certifications. The Bar encourages Virginia lawyers to log in to its website to accomplish compliance aims, especially paying dues and MCLE requirements. If you need assistance resetting your password please call (804) 775-0504.
