Special Election Held for Three Bar Council Spots

The Virginia State Bar will hold a special election for Bar Council, the Bar’s governing body, in the Second, Third and Sixth Judicial Circuits for unexpired terms beginning immediately and ending June 30, 2022. Candidates will then be eligible for re-election to a full 3-year term effective July 1, 2022.

Virginia lawyers who wish to be on the ballot must be active members in good standing in their circuit as of August 6, 2021. 

To run, interested lawyers in the 2nd, 3rd or 6th Circuit must:

  • file a nominating petition signed by not fewer than ten other members eligible to vote in the circuit,
  • write a statement of qualifications not exceeding 150 words, and
  • provide a digital headshot. 

File these three things at elections@vsb.org on or before 4:00 pm on August 13, 2021.

You must be an active member of the 2nd, 3rd, or 6th Circuits, and in good standing, by August 6, 2021, to vote in the special election.
