Naveed Kalantar, Matthew Foster, and Derek Davis to Serve on Bar Council

Three lawyers have been elected to serve on the Virginia State Bar Council after a special election due to council members relocating from their districts.

Naveed Kalantar has been elected to represent Circuit 2, Matthew R. Foster will represent Circuit 3 and Derek A. Davis will represent Circuit 6.

Kalantar is a partner with family law firm Garriott Maurer in Virginia Beach. Kalantar is a graduate of the University of Virginia and the University of Richmond T.C. Williams School of Law.

Foster has practiced personal injury law for 14 years at Bangel, Bangel & Bangel, where he is a partner. He is also a member of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association.

Davis is currently serving his second four-year term as commonwealth’s attorney for Surry County. Prior to his election to commonwealth’s attorney, he spent his career in private practice representing clients in a variety of matters.

The VSB Council consists of 81 people: 65 lawyers elected from Virginia’s 31 judicial circuits, nine at-large members appointed by the Supreme Court of Virginia, four conference chairs and three VSB officers. Elected representatives serve a three-year term and are eligible for re-election to a second term.
