Supreme Court of Virginia Issues Statement on Redistricting

Because members of Virginia’s redistricting commission have been unable to agree on new maps for the General Assembly or Congressional districts by the October deadlines, the Supreme Court of Virginia will now take on the responsibility.

In a press release dated Thursday, November 4, 2021, the Court outlined its obligations and the next steps for the process.

The general public and elected officials may submit written comments to the Clerk of the Supreme Court of Virginia to Redistricting@vacourts.gov. The comments must be relevant to the topic of redistricting.

The Court's release, containing the rules and procedures for this process as well as other information, may be found here.
