The Supreme Court of Virginia has extended the Judicial Emergency Order until May 17.

The Admissions Ceremony for newly licensed attorneys in Virginia will be held remotely.

Bar Council voting ended May 1 at midnight.

The Bar seeks comment on removing the supervision component of the rule for military spouse bar members.

Lawyer compliance deadlines for annual dues and MCLE have been extended.

The 2020 VSB Annual Meeting scheduled for June 17-20 has been canceled.

Opportunities, Events & Awards

Doris Henderson Causey has won the 2020 VSB Diversity Conference Clarence M. Dunnaville Jr. Achievement Award.

The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) is the largest federal emergency relief package in this country’s history. Learn more at this 2.0 hour CLE.

COVID CLEs from the Business Law Section:

Small Businesses and Subchapter V and the CARES Act (May 7, 12-1 p.m., 1.0 hour pending)

The Real Property Section CLE will be held May 8, 2020, as a webcast. It offers 6.0 Live-interactive MCLE Credits (1 Ethics).

The Virginia Lawyer Referral Service needs lawyers willing to take prescreened referrals relating to COVID law and other issues. It's free to join for lawyers new to the program.

All VSB in-person meetings through June 10, 2020, have been cancelled. The status of all meetings will continue to be updated on the events page of the VSB website.
