The Special Committee on Access to Legal Services will hold its annual Pro Bono Conference and Celebration on October 21 in Williamsburg.

The Standing Committee on Lawyer Discipline calls for nominations for district committee vacancies to be filled by Council in June.

The annual Law In Society essay contest for high school students is accepting entries.

The Criminal Law Section is accepting nominations for the Harry L. Carrico Professionalism Award. Nominations are due by December 7.

The Special Committee on the Better Annual Meeting is seeking comments on its proposal to amend the term of its committee members from three years to five years because of the need for institutional memory. 

Membership dues must be received by October 13 to avoid suspension. Members may pay at the member’s portal or by mail.

The deadline for completing your MCLE requirements is October 31. Failure to complete twelve CLE hours, including two hours in ethics/professionalism and four hours from live interactive programs by the deadline, will result in a $100 non-compliance fee. The Understanding the Immigration Consequences of Criminal Convictions: How to Navigate Criminal and Immigration Proceedings in Virginia CLE on October 29 will be at George Mason School of Law from noon to 4 p.m. The seminar is sponsored by the Young Lawyers Conference and open to all.

Save the date for the 46th Annual Criminal Law Seminar, sponsored by the VSB Criminal Law Section and Virginia CLE, scheduled for February 5 in Williamsburg and February 12 in Charlottesville.
