Supreme Court of Virginia Amends Rules Affecting Bar Officers and Trial Procedures

On May 5, 2021, the Supreme Court of Virginia amended Section IV, Paragraph 4 of the Rules for Integration of the Virginia State Bar, Part Six of the Rules of Court, effective July 5, 2021. The Court also issued a second Order amending Rules 1:19, 3:8, and 4:5, effective July 5, 2021.

Section IV, Paragraph 4 of the Rules for Integration of the Virginia State Bar delineate the rules and processes for selecting and electing the officers of the Bar as prescribed by the Bylaws of the Council.

Rule 1:19 concerns pretrial conferences, Rule 3.8 involves answers, pleas, demurrers, and motions, and Rule 4:5 pertains to depositions upon oral examination.
