Supreme Court of Virginia Issues Thirty-Second Emergency Order Due to COVID

On Friday, December 10, 2021, the Supreme Court of Virginia issued its Thirty-Second Judicial Emergency Order in response to the COVID pandemic. This Order is effective until January 5, 2022.

The Order directs chief judges and presiding judges to determine, in compliance with existing law, how to best safely operate their respective courts; asks all courts to continue to screen individuals entering courthouses to the extent recommended by the Virginia Department of Health; continues the tolling of Speedy Trial Act deadlines; and continues the authorization of electronic signatures for pleadings, orders, and other documents.
