Supreme Court of Virginia Issues Thirty-First COVID-19 Order

On Thursday, November 18, 2021, the Supreme Court of Virginia entered its thirty-first emergency order due to the COVID-19 pandemic, extending the emergency period through December 15, 2021.

The Order, which applies to all circuit and district courts in the Commonwealth, contains four provisions covering safety protocols for the operation of courts, screening of individuals entering courthouses, continued tolling of the Speedy Trial Act deadlines, and continued authorization of electronic signatures for pleadings, orders, and documents.
