Supreme Court of Virginia Issues Thirtieth COVID-19 Order

On Monday, October 25, 2021, the Supreme Couyrt of Virginia issued its Thirtieth Declaration of Judicial Emergency in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Order applies to all circuit and district courts of the Commonwealth and extends the current Order through November 24, 2021.

As with prior orders, this Order requires chief and presiding judges to exercise discretion, subject to existing law, in how to safely operate their courts; asks courts to screen people entering the courthouse if and to the extent recommended by the Virginia Department of Health; continues the tolling of the Speedy Trial Act; and allows for electronic signatures in court documents.
