VSB Seeks Applicants for 18th Circuit Council Vacancy

The Virginia State Bar seeks a candidate serve as a representative for the Eighteenth Circuit on the Virginia State Bar Council. Council is an 81-person body, consisting of 65 lawyers elected from the 31 circuits throughout the Commonwealth, as well as nine at-large members appointed by the Supreme Court of Virginia, four conference chairs, and three officers.

The seat is vacant because Stacey Rose Harris has accepted a new position outside of the circuit.

Virginia lawyers who wish to apply must be active members in good standing of the 18th Circuit as of August 10, 2022. If more than one attorney applies, an election will be held for the seat.

To apply, a lawyer must:

  • file a nominating petition signed by not fewer than ten other members eligible to vote in the circuit,
  • write a statement of qualifications not exceeding 150 words, and
  • provide a digital photograph.

File these three things with Cameron Rountree, the interim executive director, at on or before September 2, 2022 at 4:00 pm.

Appointment to this Council seat will be for the unexpired term effective immediately; the term ends June 30, 2023. The candidate may serve two consecutive 3-year terms after completing the unexpired term.
