The Virginia State Bar seeks a self-motivated individual with a strong customer service orientation to lead network planning and system engineering functions to ensure the highest levels of stability, efficiency, and security.  Working closely with all levels of staff, the Senior Systems Engineer will gauge the effectiveness of existing systems for fulfilling business objectives and processes; strategize, research, and evaluate opportunities for improvement; coordinate, test, and monitor modified and new systems; lead the deployment of new or upgraded systems or enhancements; oversee system configuration activities; and provide advanced level support for network connectivity problems.  This position will also create and maintain detailed documentation as it relates to systems configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records; design and perform system back-up and other recovery processes; and design and perform server and security audits.  As a member of a small IT team, the Senior Systems Engineer will also provide operational support as needed to assist users with production problems.

The selected candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Significant systems engineering experience
  • Experience in WSUS, Powershell, VMware, Cisco Call Manager, Office 365, Meraki and Druva
  • Experience as a system architect in designing, delivery, and support of IT projects, systems and applications across server environments
  • Experience with security and general software management best practices
  • A thorough working knowledge and deep experience in distribution of security patches and anti-virus updates as well as secure configurations of firewalls, web and applications servers
  • Disaster recovery planning experience
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws  
  • A strong understanding of best practices in network concepts and enterprise infrastructure
  • Proven analytical and creative problem-solving skills
  • Excellent project management, verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to conduct research into system issues and products
  • The ability to present and implement system-wide comprehensive solutions
  • The ability to prioritize and execute tasks both independently and as a team player in a collaborative, fast-paced work environment  
  • Comp TIA Server+ certification
  • Azure and MCSE Cloud Platform and Infrastructure certifications a plus
  • Successful completion of criminal background check
