The Virginia State Bar seeks a detailed-oriented, self-starter with exceptional interpersonal and analytical skills to receive, evaluate, and process complaints against lawyers.   In collaboration with intake attorneys, this position will receive complaint data from the public, lawyers, judges, and other court officials; analyze pertinent data from complaint submissions; and enter complaint data into a database. Analyst must discern whether the complaint is new and requires immediate attention based on the Virginia Rules of Professional Conduct, an update to an existing complaint, or a review of a previous determination.   In addition, the analyst will process correspondence; maintain computer files; conduct limited research; and perform special projects as required.  The analyst must be comfortable working in a paperless office environment while processing a large quantity of data and other tasks as assigned by intake counsel.

The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in an administrative position, preferably in a legal environment. In addition, we are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, dependable, flexible, able to give information while exercising good judgment and confidentiality, and comfortable working under pressure with tight deadlines. He/she will demonstrate excellent interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills; the ability to communicate effectively with others both verbally and in writing; and the ability to learn quickly and apply rules applicable to lawyer misconduct. In addition, the analyst must be computer-savvy and highly proficient with databases and online research tools. Selected candidate must pass a criminal background check.
