The Virginia State Bar has an exciting opportunity for a forward-thinking, process-oriented individual to review, analyze, and develop information management functions and the VSB records management program. Reporting to the Deputy Executive Director, the Information and Records Manager is responsible for:

  • formulating policies, procedures, and standards for the effective and efficient handling of electronic and non-electronic data and records;
  • querying, processing, and analyzing the VSB membership database;
  • liaising with staff at all levels to verify membership database integrity and resolve problems;
  • providing user training and guidance to staff on information and records management functions;
  • identifying and recommending information and records management process improvements;
  • developing logical filing processes;
  • cataloging and classifying agency policies and other centralized records;
  • coordinating with IT staff to implement technology solutions from user requirements;
  • coordinating the retention, transfer, storage, and destruction of records; and
  • assisting with responses to Virginia Freedom of Information Act requests

In addition, this position will support data reporting requirements from multiple departments by identifying appropriate sources of information, producing or supporting report production, advising on the effective presentation of data for meaningful analysis and use, and creating technical documentation and instructions for reporting functions as needed.

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Records Management, Library Science, Information Management, or Business Administration or equivalent experience in similar roles
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills with a strong customer service orientation
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented collaborative environment
  • Knowledge of the full life cycle of records management
  • Knowledge of information governance principles and best practices
  • Knowledge of data protection and security concepts
  • Experience with displaying graphic representations of data and processes
  • Experience with electronic records management systems
  • Experience with Microsoft 0365 environment, including SharePoint
  • Microsoft certifications are a plus
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check
