The Virginia State Bar (VSB) seeks an experienced, highly qualified leader to oversee the administration of select components of attorney regulatory compliance. This position will provide strategic direction and continual efficiency improvements in support of the VSB’s mission to protect the public and regulate the legal profession. This senior leadership role will be directly responsible for the Mandatory Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) program as well as oversee all membership requirements. Reporting to the executive director, this position will supervise a large team of administrative professionals and regulatory analysts; provide training, guidance, and support with all activities; and ensure optimal service and efficiency with work processes and procedures. This position will also prepare a budget and manage the collection of dues; administer and maintain a variety of databases and records; coordinate communications with members, other VSB departments, and outside entities; and serve as the liaison to the MCLE Board ensuring compliance with open meeting and FOIA requirements. 

The preferred candidate will hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited college or university and have significant experience managing both individuals and regulatory programs, preferably in a high-volume customer service focused environment. The individual will demonstrate the ability to interpret, apply, and explain legal rules, regulations, policies, and procedures; use good judgement; plan, organize, prioritize, and supervise the work of others; identify and solve problems; manage a budget; work under pressure and within tight deadlines; and maintain a high degree of confidentiality. Exceptional verbal, written, customer service, and interpersonal skills are required. He/she will also be highly proficient with cloud-based database management, MS office applications, and emerging technologies. Successful completion of criminal background check required.
