Communications Coordinator

The Virginia State Bar, an administrative agency of the Supreme Court of Virginia, has an immediate opening for a communications coordinator to perform a broad range of activities in support of a comprehensive communications program. In this small team-oriented environment, the Coordinator will make daily updates to the Bar’s website; coordinate the mailing and supply of print and electronic newsletters and publications; mail and ship orders of brochures and handbooks; assist with advertising sales for Virginia Lawyer magazine; and assist with writing, editing and/or coordinating email campaigns, social media messages, and other communication assignments. Occasional work is required on evenings or weekends.

The successful candidate will have a degree in communications, journalism, public relations or related field, experience editing and paring digital content, and the following qualifications:

  • excellent writing, editing, and interpersonal skills
  • strong customer service skills
  • excellent organization and planning skills
  • detail-oriented
  • able to adapt writing style for multiple audiences and different communication platforms 
  • able to work both independently and within a team with tight deadlines and short turnaround times 
  • proficiency using Microsoft Office
  • knowledge of SEO best practices and website analytics
  • experience with email programs like Constant Contact preferred 
  • additional skills such as graphic design, photography and/or videography preferred
  • successful completion of a background security check

This is a full-time position. Comprehensive benefits package included. This position is required to work in the Richmond office and is subject to the VSB mandatory vaccination program.
