Immigrant Outreach
This committee designs projects, including the Immigrant Outreach-Education Regarding Deportation Ramifications of Criminal Convictions program to (1) educate members of the bar regarding deportation ramifications of criminal convictions on immigrants and (2) reach out to Virginia’s immigrant population.
Foreign Language Attorney DatabaseThe Committee maintains a database of attorneys who speak foreign languages to assist potential clients find lawyers who can assist and speak their language. Lawyers may add their names to the database and the public may access the database to locate an attorney who speaks a particular language.
Immigration Consequences of Criminal Convictions CLEAs part of the outreach to the legal community in Virginia, the Committee puts on annual programming that educates lawyers on the effects of criminal convictions on an individual’s journey through the immigration process.

Pro Bono CLE SeriesAfter the success of the Immigration Consequences series, the Committee established a series devoted to furthering pro bono involvement in the area of immigration law. This series educates attorneys on larger issues in immigration such as asylum, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS), and other specialized issues that require the attention of attorneys.

Naturalization WorkshopsThe YLC Immigrant Outreach Committee pairs up with Hogar Immigrant Services to facilitate volunteers at monthly Naturalization Workshops to aid local Northern Virginia immigrants with their naturalization applications. After receiving a detailed training, volunteer attorneys meet with applicants one-on-one to review their case and assist in completing their naturalization application.
