About Us
The SLC of the Virginia State Bar was established in 2001 by Bar Council. We have a membership of more than 20,000 lawyers, 55 years of age and older, who focus on issues of interest to senior lawyers and promotion of the welfare of senior citizens. We have provided assistance in the implementation of the revised guardianship laws for adults. We prepare and revise The Senior Citizens Handbook in cooperation with the Young Lawyers Conference. We provide education and encouragement to lawyers to do proper planning for their own disability or death. We are interested in receiving input from senior lawyers and senior citizens on issues of concern to them, in order to enable us to study issues, present programs and activities, produce publications of interest, and advocate appropriately.
