The Virginia State Bar’s International Practice Section had 450 members as of June 2018.  The Section’s Board of Governors for the 2017-2018 term was comprised of eight members.

Over the past fiscal year, the section obtained approval from the Virginia State Bar to establish a LinkedIn group page for the Section.  The Section also co-sponsored and publicized events held by other sections that may be of interest to members of the International Practice Section, including the D.C. Bar’s International Law Community, with Geoffrey Goodale serving as liaison, and the Business Law Section of the Virginia State Bar, with John Huddle serving as liaison.

The Section also hosted a panel discussion regarding important development in EU and US trade controls compliance on April 17, 2018.  The event was co-sponsored by the International Law Forum of the Women’s Bar Association of DC and the D.C. Bar International Law Community.  Speakers at the event were Bert Gevers, Partner and head of the Indirect Tax Practice Group and the International Trade Team at Loyens & Loeff in Belgium and Susan Kovarovics, Partner and co-leader of the International Trade client service group in the Washington, DC office of Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner LLP.
