Special Activities in Fiscal Year 2017-2018

Per the request of Judge David Lannetti, the Section reviewed the “Corporate” hypotheticals used in the Virginia State Bar Professionalism Course for new Virginia attorneys and proposed a new hypothetical question and made a recommendation on splitting out the pro bono questions into a separate section.

Annual Meeting CLE Programs

The Section sponsored the CLE course at the VSB Annual Meeting entitled, “Cybersecurity:  Competing Interests Security, Compliance, and Legal Risks presented by Susan B. Cassidy and Ashden Fein from the law firm of Covington & Burling LLP.

Member Communication

This past year we sent out several emails to the membership informing them of relevant CLE opportunities.  In May, NVA hosted a luncheon with an opportunity for members to network and receive 1.5 Ethics CLEs.

Law Student Seminars

The Section continued its practice of hosting panel presentations over lunch at Virginia law schools to share information and insights on in-house practice. This year, the Section was able to present a panel discussion at five of the eight law schools.
