As of June 2013, the section had 744 members.  Currently, the section has 784 members.

Annual CLE – Fall Program
On November 8-9, 2013, the section hosted the 34th Fall Program at the Boar’s Head Inn in Charlottesville. The program offered 12 CLE credits, including 2 hours of ethics credit. There were 166 attendees for the program. 

Annual Meeting
On June 13, 2014, the section was the lead co-sponsor of the Showcase CLE at the 76th Annual Summer Meeting of the VSB.  The CLE was planned in conjunction with the Local Government, Administrative, Real Property and Environmental Law sections.  The CLE, titled, “Public-Private Partnerships: Smooth Sailing or Choppy Waters in the Wake of Elizabeth River Crossing and VDOT v. Meeks” featured a great panel, including Cynthia Hudson, Deputy Attorney General of Virginia, Virginia Senator Tommy Norment, Charles Wall of Williams Mullen, and Patrick McSweeny, Esq.  The CLE was well attended and received.

Membership Events
On May 15, 2014, the section hosted a joint reception with the Construction Section of the Maryland State Bar Association in Tysons Corner, Virginia. This event was organized by Jennifer A. Mahar.

Member Communications
The section continues to update its Construction Law Handbook annually, with Scott W. Kowalski chairing this work. Of significance, the section completed its multi-year project of getting the handbook loaded onto the VSB website, with the ability to be fully searched.  In addition, the section, through its newsletter chairs J. Barrett Lucy and Hanna Blake, issued two newsletters – one in the fall 2013 and one in the spring 2014. The handbook and newsletters are also available on the section’s website.

Officers for 2013-2014 Board
The officers for the 2013-2014 were: Sean Howley (chair), Michael A. Branca (vice chair), Shannon Briglia (secretary), Jennifer Mahar (treasurer), and K. Brett Marston (immediate past chair).

New Members for the 2013-2014 Board
There was one new board member for 2013-2014: Allison Mullins.

The section had a fiscal year beginning balance of $11,920 and an ending balance of $2,465.97.
