The Young Lawyers Conference of the Virginia State Bar is hosting its first annual Fore Everyone Golf Classic to benefit Podium RVA.
Golf has traditionally played an important role in business and the practice of law. Relationships cultivated on the green often play a role in the decisions made in the office. Yet despite golf’s professional importance, it has historically presented barriers to entry. Exclusive club memberships, high greens fees, and limited access to facilities pose significant hurdles for diverse participation, necessitating a pivot towards inclusivity in all facets of the game.
The Fore Everyone Classic is a new kind of golf event designed to address these barriers. The event will prioritize accessibility by taking place on a public course. It will reduce and eliminate entry fees for new golfers, and actively seek out diverse participation. By creating an event that embraces and celebrates diversity on the golf
course, this event intends to catalyze a cultural shift towards
diversity and inclusion for women and minorities in the game of golf.
All proceeds will go to our partner, Podium RVA. Podium is a charitable
organization dedicated to providing after school programs for
underserved youth, focused on reading, creative writing, and public
speaking. Each of these programs empower youth self-advocacy and
education through effective education.

How it Works
Golfers will register individually by experience level and indicate whether they would like to participate individually or with a partner who is also registered. Golfers will be organized into teams of four. Each team will include golfers of all skill levels. Prizes will be awarded to the first and second place teams, and for different contests throughout the round.
Full refunds are available for cancellations before April 13. Cancellations after April 13 will only receive a 50% refund. Substitutions are allowed, and must be sent to [email protected].

- Q: What should I wear?
- A collared shirt with shorts or pants. No denim. Sneakers or tennis shoes are okay.
- Q: What's included in my registration?
- Each registration includes greens and cart fees, tees, six golf balls, lunch, and four drink tickets.
- Q: What if I don't have golf clubs?
- During registration, you will be asked if you need a set of clubs. We will have a limited number of clubs available at no cost on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Q: Can I select my own team of four?
- Not quite. During registration, you can indicate whether you would like to be paired with one other person who is also registered. Golfers will be organized by event hosts into teams of four. Each team will include golfers of all skill levels.
