Trade Remedies Demystified: What the Non-Practitioner Needs to Know

Tired of being in the dark about "trade remedies"?  Does your brain freeze when clients raise questions about antidumping duties (AD), countervailing duties (CVD), or "unfair trade"?  If so, then we have the program for you. Yohai Baisburd (Partner, Cassidy Levy Kent) and Jay Campbell (White & Case), two veteran trade remedy lawyers with decades of experience between them (and a lack of hair to show for it), will demystify so-called "trade remedies" and explain what you need to know to identify potential issues and protect your clients, addressing such questions as:

  • What is dumping?
  • What is a countervailable subsidy?
  • Who bears AD/CVD liability?
  • When and how are AD/CVD assessed?
  • How does a US manufacturer petition for relief from "unfairly traded" imports?
  • How can importers protect themselves from the imposition of AD/CVD?
  • How can foreign producers/exporters subject to AD/CVD turn a challenge into an opportunity?

The International Property Section is offering a free 1 hour CLE credit (approved) for this event. You may attend virtually or in-person at White & Case's D.C. office on April 16, 2024.  If you would like to attend in-person, there will be a boxed lunch provided before the event.  There will be a link sent out the day before for those attending virtually.
