2014 Indigent Defense Training Registration Form (PDF file)
As of February 21, the Richmond location is sold out.
Upon receipt of your registration, the Virginia State Bar will send a written confirmation for the live program in Richmond, and an email confirmation for the webcasts in Weyers Cave and Wytheville. Please retain your confirmation; if you receive it by email, print it out and bring it with you. You will need it for admission to the seminar, and for a discount on parking at the Greater Richmond Convention Center’s parking deck. There will be no admission to the event without your confirmation.
Confirmations are non-transferable between seminar locations. Transfer requests from one site to another must be authorized through the Virginia State Bar no later than Friday, April 11th. The Virginia State Bar will issue a new confirmation for the new site. Failure to receive written confirmation for your transfer through the Virginia State Bar office may result in your inability to receive MCLE credit due to a shortage of materials and a lack of space at a particular site.
Due to limited space and guarantees for refreshments, transfer requests/cancellations must be received in writing (fax and email are acceptable) no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 11. Failure to request a transfer or cancel by this deadline may prevent another attorney on the waiting list from attending. Transfer requests/cancellations received after April 11 will result in a fee of $75 if we are unable to fill your spot. Failure to attend on the day of the program will result in a “No-Show Fee” of $100.
Please direct your transfer and/or cancellation requests and other inquiries to Dolly C. Shaffner, Bar Services Dept., Virginia State Bar: IndigentDefenseSeminar@vsb.org; (804) 775-0518; Fax (804)775-0501.
Each seminar attendee will receive a disk containing written materials for the seminar, together with a printed booklet containing the agenda, table of contents, power point presentations and biographical information on the speakers.
A limited number of scholarship funds will be available to public defenders and court appointed counsel to offset the overnight hotel expense at the Hilton Garden Inn in Richmond. The Scholarship Committee will consider requests for reimbursement of the cost of the hotel room ($129.16, inclusive) on a first-come, first served basis. All requests must be received by March 7, 2014. Please send a written request for scholarship funds to: Dolly C. Shaffner, Virginia State Bar, 707 E. Main St., Suite 1500, Richmond, VA 23219; IndigentDefenseSeminar@vsb.org.
