Registration & Space Limitations

This outstanding program is being offered at no charge, as a service to members of the Virginia State Bar. Virginia lawyers engaged in the representation of Virginia’s indigent criminal population, either as public defenders or as court appointed counsel, are the target audience for this seminar. At the Chief Justice’s request, registration preference will be given to these two constituencies.

The seminar format will include a live program in Richmond (Sold Out) which will be broadcast via video at two satellite locations: Blue Ridge Community College (Plecker Workforce Center at Weyers Cave) and the Wytheville Meeting Center. Advance registration for this seminar is mandatory. Space is limited to 625 registrants at the live location in Richmond; 150 registrants in Weyers Cave; and 125 registrants in Wytheville. Walk-in registration will not be accepted at any location. To be placed on the waiting list, please email, fax or mail your form in.

The seminar will be conducted in a smoke-free environment. If you have a disability that requires special accommodations to participate in the program, please contact the Virginia State Bar well in advance of the program date.

Confirmations & Transfers

Upon receipt of your registration, the Virginia State Bar will send a written confirmation for the live program in Richmond, and an email confirmation for the webcast locations in Weyers Cave and Wytheville. Please retain your confirmation; if you receive it by email, print it out and bring it with you. You will need it for admission to the seminar, and for a discount on parking at the Greater Richmond Convention Center’s parking deck (see below.)  There will be no admission to the event without your confirmation.

Confirmations are non-transferable between seminar locations. Transfer requests from one site to another must be authorized through the Virginia State Bar no later than April 14thThe Virginia State Bar will issue a new confirmation for the new site. Failure to receive written confirmation for your transfer through the Virginia State Bar office may result in your inability to receive MCLE credit due to a shortage of materials and a lack of space at a particular site.

Cancellations & Questions

Due to limited space and guarantees for refreshments, transfer requests/cancellations must be received in writing (fax and email are acceptable) no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 14.  Failure to request a transfer or cancel by this deadline may prevent another attorney on the waiting list from attending. Transfer requests/cancellations received after April 14 will result in a fee of $75 if we are unable to fill your spot. Failure to attend on the day of the program will result in a “No-Show Fee” of $100.
