The Summer Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Real Property Section of the Virginia State Bar was held on Friday, June 16, 2000, at 12:15 p.m., in Skytop Room of the Holiday Inn Sunspree, Virginia Beach, Virginia.

The following persons were in attendance: Susan Siegfried, Lawrence Schonberger, Harry Purkey, Wayne Glass, Paula Caplinger, Larry McElwain, Douglass Dewing, Steve Romine, Grice McMullan, Richard Mendelson, Joe Cochran, Gary Peterson, Howard Gordon, Steven Blame, Steve Wood, John David Epperly, Rick Chess, Mike Pace and Susan Pesner. Susan Siegfried, President, chaired the meeting. Lawrence Schonberger, Secretary, kept the minutes.

Ms. Siegfried called the meeting to order.

Ms. Siegfried presented the minutes of the April 8, 2000 meeting of the Real Property Section and upon motion duly made and seconded the minutes were unanimously approved by those who attended the April 8, 2000 meeting. Those not in attendance at the April 8, 2000 meeting abstained.

Ms. Siegfried presented the financial report.

Mr. Epperly presented a report on the expenditure and outstanding balance due to the National Legal Research Group for researching and preparing the written materials for the current developments in the law portion of the 2000 Annual Real Estate Law Seminar, and upon motion duly made and seconded, it was unanimously

RESOLVED, that the Chairperson is hereby authorized to pay the full amount due to the National Legal Research Group for its research and preparation of the written materials for the current developments in the law portion of the 2000 Annual Real Estate Law Seminar.

Mr. Epperly led a discussion on authorizing payment for the research and preparation of materials for future current development in the law portions of the Annual Real Estate Law Seminar, and upon motion duly made and seconded, it was unanimously

RESOLVED, the Board of Governors is hereby authorized to spend up to $5,000.00 annually for research and preparation of materials for the current developments in the law portion of the Annual Real Estate Law Seminar.

Mr. Epperly presented a report on the membership.

Ms. Siegfried announced that based on the joint nomination of the Real Property Section of the Virginia State Bar and the Real Property Section of the Virginia Bar Association, Court Traver has been awarded the Gardner G. DeMallie, Jr. Award.

Ms. Siegfried announced that Steve Gregory had been recommended as 6n area representative and upon motion made by Mr. Peterson and duly seconded, it was unanimously

RESOLVED, that Steve Gregory is hereby appointed an Area Representative for the Real Property Section of the Virginia State Bar.

Mr. Chess presented a report on a proposed Housing Subcommittee project.

Ms. Siegfried announced that Mr. Wood has drafted an Area Representative policy which shall be presented at the next meeting of the Board of Governors.

Ms. Siegfried announced that Mr. Dewing has established the Real Property Section's website with the help of VIPNET.

Ms. Siegfried presented the report of the Nominating Committee which proposed the following:

(i) as candidates to fill two vacant board seats: Steve Blaine and Douglass Dewing

(ii) for re-appointment to the board for a second term: John David Epperly and Lawrence Schonberger; and

(iii) as officers of the board: John David Epperly, Chair; Lawrence Schonberger, Vice-Chair; Steve Romine, Secretary; and upon motion duly made and seconded, it was unanimously

RESOLVED, that Steve Blaine is elected to the board, Douglass Dewing is elected to the board, John David Epperly and Lawrence Schonberger are re-elected to the board, John David Epperly is elected Chair, Lawrence Schonberger is elected Vice-Chair, and Steve Romine is elected Secretary.

There being no further business, upon motion duly made and seconded, the meeting was adjourned at 1:15 p.m.
