Military Law

A Section of the Virginia State Bar.

Virginia is home to the largest concentration of servicemembers from all branches of the service.  These active duty, reserve and retired servicemembers and their families  have a multi-billion dollar impact on the Virginia economy.  At some point in your career you are likely to confront an issue related to the military, regardless of your area of practice.  The Military Law Section is here to help.
The military has a unique structure of discipline, and law that guides, directs and regulates the conduct of its servicemembers in both the criminal and civil aspects of their lives.  There are state and federal laws that impact citizen, business and servicemember rights.   Regardless of which side of the negotiation table or court room you are on, understanding these laws is vital to your practice when dealing with the military.
The Military Law Section of the Virginia State Bar works to provide information and resources to the servicemembers so that they understand their rights and know where to go for help with in resolving legal issues.  We provide resources, and training for attorneys to assist in understanding the laws and regulations that will impact their case.
