Law Student Writing Competition Winners Announced

The Health Law Section hosted a Student Writing Competition for students at Virginia law schools for the 2016-17 academic year.  Contestants submitted papers on a topic pertaining to a health law issue or the practice of health law.  Entries were judged by a committee of the Health Law Section on the basis of subject matter originality, relevance to health law, quality of analysis and research, and quality of writing.  The winning entries were:

1st Prize and $1500-Nicholas Rutigliano of the University of Virginia School of Law, Preempting Harms of Surreptitious Genetic Testing 2nd Prize and $1000-Alexander Kalyniuk of Wiliam & Mary Law School, Going Around the Middleman: FDA Law Mechanisms for Health Insurers to Gain Leverage Over Drug Manufacturers and Mitigate Rising Drug Prices 3rd Prize and $500-Katherine Rockwell of William & Mary Law School, When One Pill Is Not Enough: The Addiction Epidemic Plaguing This Country and Congress's Response to the Growing Tragedy
