1999 Harry L. Carrico Professionalism Award Recipient

Dennis W. Dohnal, Esquire

Dennis W. Dohnal received the 1999 Harry L. Carrico Professionalism Award from the Virginia State Bar’s Criminal Law Section at the 29th annual Criminal Law Seminar.

The award, established in 1992 in honor of Carrico, chief justice of the Supreme Court of Virginia, recognizes a singular and unique contribution to the improvement of the criminal justice system in Virginia.

Dohnal has served as an assistant United States attorney, as a partner with Bremner, Baber and Janus, as special counsel for the Division of Legislative Services for the Virginia General Assembly, and as a director with Brenner, Dohnal, Evans and Yoffy in Richmond.

He is a former president of the Richmond Bar Association and the Richmond Criminal Bar Association and former chair of the VSB Special Committee to Study the Virginia Code of Professional Responsibility. He also serves as a member of the VSB Council and Executive Committee.

Dohnal is a graduate of Bucknell University and the George Washington University Law Center.
