James C. Roberts, Esquire

James C. Roberts, a senior partner with the Richmond-based law firm of Mays and Valentine, received the 1993 Harry L. Carrico Professionalism Award from the Virginia State Bar’s Criminal Law Section at the 23rd annual Criminal Law Seminar.

The award, established in honor of Carrico, chief justice of the Supreme Court of Virginia, recognizes a singular and unique contribution to the improvement of the criminal justice system in Virginia.

Roberts practices in the areas of civil, criminal, and corporate litigation as well as legislative representation. He also serves as chair of his law firm’s executive committee.

His thirty-five-year legal career includes service as president of the Richmond Bar Association, Virginia State Bar, and John Marshall Inn of Court. Roberts is one of only two lawyers in the country to be listed under four practice areas in the 1990 edition of The Best Lawyers in America.
