VSB to Evaluate Candidates for Appellate Courts

The Virginia State Bar has been asked by Senator Henry L. Marsh III, chair of the Senate Courts of Justice Committee, and Delegate David B. Albo, chair of the House Courts of Justice Committee, to evaluate judicial candidates for state appellate court vacancies.

The Courts of Justice Committees for both the House and the Senate will interview candidates on April 5.

Candidates who wish to be evaluated by the VSB are asked to submit by end of business March 18, 2011, a résumé, a brief writing sample, and responses to a questionnaire available on the Virginia State Bar website.

Submissions should be sent electronically, and the original questionnaire should be submitted by mail. Addresses are at the end of the form. Interviews will be held on March 29, 2011, at the Virginia State Bar office at 707 E. Main Street, Suite 1500, Richmond. Contact VSB staff member Valerie Breeden, breeden@vsb.org, (804) 775-0551, with questions.

Other statewide bar groups will evaluate candidates as well. Candidates should contact other statewide bar groups from the statewide bar group contact list if they wish to be evaluated by those groups.
