The Conference of Local Bar Associations will present its Bar Leaders Institute on Monday, March 5, at the University of Richmond School of Law. Elizabeth Derrico of the ABA will discuss resources available to bar associations. Registration is open to current and prospective local and statewide bar leaders.
Save the date! This year’s Virginia State Bar Pro Bono Award Ceremony will be traveling to the historic Petersburg Courthouse on March 26, 2012.
The Board of Governors of the Family Law Section is currently seeking nominations for both the Lifetime Achievement Award and the Service Award. All nominations must be received by February 8, 2012.
Because of cuts in funding and staff reductions, legal aid needs help. Mark D. Braley, executive director of the Legal Services Corporation of Virginia, is asking lawyers who do not already participate to exercise their IOLTA option and help legal aid meet the growing unmet need for legal assistance. Lawyers can do this by converting their non-interest-bearing trust accounts to interest-bearing IOLTA accounts.
The Virginia Law Foundation inducted twenty-three Virginia lawyers as its 2012 Class of Fellows at a dinner ceremony held on January 19 in Williamsburg during The Virginia Bar Association's annual meeting.
The Virginia Academy of Elder Law Attorneys presents its 5th Annual UnProgram Friday, February 24, and Saturday, February 25, in Charlottesville. Registration is open for one or both days.Updated: Jan 31, 2012
