Nominations sought for District Committee vacancies – The Standing Committee on Lawyer Discipline calls for nominations for district committee vacancies to be filled by Council in June 2012.

LEO 1856 issued – The Legal Ethics Committee issued an opinion on Sept.19, 2011, regarding the extent to which a lawyer who is licensed and in good standing in another jurisdiction but not in Virginia may practice law in the commonwealth.

Comments sought on LEO 1861 – The proposal addresses whether a lawyer serving as a bankruptcy trustee may communicate with the debtor without consent by the debtor’s lawyer.

Diversity Conference Forum on Nov. 10 – The program at the University of Virginia will cover a wide range of issues and improvements aimed at making the legal profession more representative of our diverse society. It is open to all bar members and law students.

Bench-Bar Dinner scheduled for Nov. 15 – The Tenth Annual Celebration of Women and Minorities in the Legal Profession Bench-Bar Dinner will feature Virginia Supreme Court Justice Cleo E. Powell as keynote speaker.

VSB bar cards – Virginia State Bar members no longer receive new cards when they pay their dues. Permanent bar cards were mailed to active and associate members in December 2010.
