Voting Open for 2018 VSB Council Elections

Voting for the Virginia State Bar Council elections for circuits 13, 14, 17, and 19 is open beginning Monday, April 9. Please follow the links above to learn more about the candidates.

On April 9, 2018, any member in the specified circuits who is Active and In Good Standing as of March 15, 2018, should receive an email from “Virginia State Bar Election Coordinator” with a link for voting in the Virginia State Bar Council Election. The subject line will be “Virginia State Bar Call to Action.” To ensure email with voting information arrives safely in your inbox, please add the following email address as a safe sender: noreply@directvote.net. These settings can be made in your email account SPAM/Junk filters or by contacting your IT department. This process is often referred to as “whitelisting.”

Voting is open until Friday, April 27, at 11:59 p.m. The process takes only a few seconds if you have already made up your mind, and links are present on the online ballot to learn more about each candidate should you choose to do so. Please remember to vote.

If you have not received your login information by April 10, 2018, please go to https://www.directvote.net/VSBcir/sendID.aspx to have your voting instructions resent. You can also contact support@directvote.net or call (952) 974-2339. If you have any other problems, please contact the Virginia State Bar at (804) 775-0551 or elections@vsb.org.

Your voting instructions can only be sent to your email of record on file with the Virginia State Bar.

For the Sixth Judicial Circuit:

"Under the rules and bylaws of the Virginia State Bar and Council, the Sixth Judicial Circuit will hold a meeting on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at 4:00 p.m., in the Sussex County Circuit Courtroom, located at 15088 Courthouse Road, Route 735, Sussex, VA 23884, to elect a representative to Council occasioned by the relocation of Ronnie H. West. The unexpired term will begin July 1, 2018, and end on June 30, 2019.  Any active VSB member in good standing whose bar address is in the Circuit may participate.  No one may vote by proxy.  No supporting petition or second for such nomination is required.

Circuit members also shall prescribe the method of your circuit’s next election, and if at a meeting, whether voting will occur all day, for half a day, or at the meeting only.  Another choice includes electronic ballot.  A vote to change the method of election shall be by majority of votes cast."
