Virginia Law Foundation Announces Public Service Internship Recipients and Sponsors for 2007

Twenty-eight first and second-year Virginia law students will experience work in public service law as they intern this summer throughout Virginia, through a grant from the Virginia Law Foundation and the generous financial support of several corporate sponsors. The Virginia Law Foundation is pleased to announce that Elizabeth Carter, a student at the University of Virginia School of Law, is this year's recipient of the Williams Mullen UVA Public Service Internship. Ms. Carter will be serving her internship at The Alexandria Public Defender's Office. This is Williams Mullen's third year as a designated sponsor of these internships.

This year the Foundation is pleased to welcome Dominion as a Designated Sponsor. The first recipient of the Dominion University of Richmond Public Service Internship will be Michael Braggs, who will be interning this summer at the Fredericksburg Public Defender's Office.

The Virginia Law Foundation also welcomes and recognizes program sponsors Vandeventer Black LLP and Christian & Barton LLP who helped make these 2007 summer internships possible.

Founded in 1974 as the charitable arm of Virginia's legal profession, the Virginia Law Foundation provides grant support to law-related projects throughout Virginia. Since the establishment of our public service internship program in 1989, it has enabled nearly 400 selected law students the opportunity to work at an approved public service employer in Virginia during their summer break. Through this process, students gain valuable insights into the challenges and rewards of pursuing a career in public service law. For more information, please contact Sharon Tatum, Executive Director, Virginia Law Foundation, 700 East Main Street, Suite 1501, Richmond, VA 23219, or phone (804)648-0112.
