Governance

Volunteers are needed to serve on the Virginia State Bar’s boards and committees. We are seeking Council Members at Large , Disciplinary Board members, and Mandatory Continuing Legal Education Board members. The Nominating Committee will refer nominees to the VSB Council for consideration at its October meeting. All appointments are made by the Supreme Court of Virginia.

Disciplinary Actions:

The VSB Disciplinary Board is accepting comments on Steven Frank Helm’s petition for reinstatement of his license to practice law pursuant to Part 6, § IV, ¶ 13-25.E of the Rules of the Supreme Court of Virginia. The deadline for comment is November 9, 2018. The original revocation order may be found here.

Supreme Court of Virginia Justice William C. Mims and 150 lawyers and lay people convened in Roanoke last week for the annual Disciplinary Conference where they considered issues on discipline, ethics, professionalism, and lawyer well-being.
