COMMITTEE RECOMMENDS GOULD FOR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR POSITION — Richmond attorney and 2006-07 Virginia State Bar President Karen A. Gould has been recommended as the next executive director of the Virginia State Bar. Pending approval by VSB Council later this month, she will replace Thomas A. Edmonds, who will retire at the end of this year. Gould also served the VSB on Council from 2000-05 as well as the Budget and Finance Committee and the Mandatory Continuing Legal Education and Disciplinary boards.
MALPRACTICE INSURANCE TO BE DISCUSSED — At its October 19 meeting, the VSB Council will discuss requiring members in private practice to have malpractice insurance. The report of a study by the Client Protection Subcommittee of the Special Committee on Lawyers Malpractice Insurance is available online.
