Highlights of the Virginia State Bar Council meeting February 25, 2012 – Bar updates, reports, and recognitions.
Comments are requested to proposed revisions to the Judicial Candidate Evaluation Committee, formerly the Judicial Nominations Committee, policy. Send comments to Executive Director Karen Gould by April 10.
The Legal Ethics Committee issued LEO 1861 on February 21, 2012, addressing whether a lawyer serving as a bankruptcy trustee may communicate with the debtor without consent by the debtor’s lawyer.
Nominations sought for VSB board and committee vacancies to be filled by Council in June, with terms beginning July 1, 2012.
Comments are sought for proposed amendments to Rule 1.15 of the Rules of Professional Conduct regarding safekeeping property. Comments are due by April 20, 2012.
