PROPOSED LEO 1829 WITHDRAWN —The Virginia State Bar’s Standing Committee on Legal Ethics has withdrawn proposed Legal Ethics Opinion 1829, Lawyers Serving on Public Bodies.

MALPRACTICE INSURANCE TO BE DISCUSSED — At its October meeting, the VSB Council will discuss requiring members in private practice to have malpractice insurance. The report of a study by the Client Protection Subcommittee of the Special Committee on Lawyers Malpractice Insurance is available online.

SYMPOSIUM TO FOCUS ON STATE OF THE FAMILY — A variety of family law issues, including factors in custody cases and same-sex marriages, will be explored during the First National Family Law Symposium Sept. 16-18 at the University of Richmond.  

INSTRUCTIONAL VIDEO FOR FEE-CAP WAIVERS NOW ON WEB — A new training video, produced by the Office of the Executive Secretary of the Supreme Court of Virginia, is available to help court-appointed attorneys apply for waivers of statutory fee caps.
