The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia has posted a reminder that documents filed with the court must be redacted by the filer to remove personal identifiers. The easiest way to redact is to mark through the information on a printed document and scan the document into a PDF. The court also provides instructions for sanitizing documents electronically.
