Lawyers Who Serve the Military to be Recognized
The Virginia State Bar Military Law Section (MLS), together with a number of other organizations, will honor legal assistance providers and other leaders for their contributions to service members with a reception at George Mason University on Wednesday, March 14, 2012.
Other organizations sponsoring the reception from 5:30-7 p.m. include the Judge Advocate Foundation, the American Bar Association Standing Committee on Legal Assistance for Military Personnel (LAMP), the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the Department of Justice, and the George Mason faculty. The reception will be hosted by the George Mason School of Law in the Atrium.
The Military Law Section was created to serve attorneys who have an interest in how Virginia law affects military personnel, functions, and operations, and is suitable for attorneys whose clients may include members of the military. The section is open to any member of the bar who is in good standing, members of the judiciary, military attorneys, and law students. The section sponsors continuing legal education programs and publishes and distributes educational materials, including a newsletter, for its members.
On March 15, the MLS and LAMP will present a continuing legal education seminar on military legal assistance issues.
