Supreme Court of Virginia Takes Action on Rules.

The Virginia State Bar is seeking comments on proposed amendments to the policies and procedures of the Judicial Candidate Evaluation Committee.  

The VSB is seeking comments on a proposal to fund the Diversity Conference  from mandatory dues. 

In an order dated October 20, 2015,  the Virginia Supreme Court reestablished the Judicial Ethics Advisory Committee. 

The Supreme Court of Virginia has amended Rule 5:20: Petition for Rehearing After Refusal of Petition for Appeal, the Denial of the Appeal, Refusal of Assignments of Cross-Error, or Disposition of an Original Jurisdiction Petition.  

Experienced judges and lawyers will provide practice tips at the First Day in Practice seminar. The December 10 seminar is sponsored by the VSB General Practice Section and the Young Lawyers Conference. Six CLE credits, two ethics (pending). Space is limited. 

The MCLE Form 1 End of Year Report deadline is 4:45 p.m. December 15.

The 46th Annual Criminal Law Seminar, sponsored by the VSB Criminal Law Section and Virginia CLE, will be February 5 in Williamsburg and February 12 in Charlottesville.

The VSB is seeking nominations for the following awards:

President-elect Robinson seeks members for Virginia State Bar committees with terms commencing July 1, 2016

The annual Law in Society essay contest for high school students is accepting entries.
