The Committee on Lawyer Discipline is seeking public comment on proposed amendments to two rules of the Supreme Court of Virginia: Part Six, Section IV, Paragraph 13-11.B.3 regarding disclosure of exculpatory evidence; and Part Six, Section IV, Paragraph 13-25 regarding reinstatement proceedings.

The Supreme Court of Virginia is considering modifying Rule 5:21(a) concerning appeals of right from the State Corporation Commission and is requesting comments on the proposed changes.

The Supreme Court of Virginia has released for public comment The Report of the Special Committee on Criminal Discovery Rules to the Chief Justice and Justices of the Supreme Court of Virginia. Comments on the proposed rules must be received by June 30, 2015.

The Supreme Court of Virginia has amended, adopted, and deleted a number of rules. The rule changes are effective July 1, 2015.

Rule 5.8, regarding Procedures for Notification to Clients When a Lawyer Leaves a Law Firm or When a Law Firm Dissolves, is effective May 1, 2015

Fraudulent activity is reported that involves wired funds in real estate transactions.

  • Robin Wood has been named the 2015 recipient of the Tradition of Excellence Award by the General Practice Section.
  • Katherine Moss, a third-year student at the Washington and Lee University School of Law, has been named the 2015 recipient of the 2015 Oliver White Hill Pro Bono Award by the Special Committee on Access to Legal Services.
  • Jeremy P. White has been named the 2015 recipient of the Virginia Legal Aid Award by the Special Committee on Access to Legal Services.
