of newly scheduled
Admission & Orientation Ceremony

The Supreme Court of Virginia and the Virginia State Bar are aware that some attorneys were unable to attend the October 29, 2012, Admission & Orientation Ceremony due to Hurricane Sandy; therefore, arrangements have been made to have another ceremony on Wednesday, December 5, 2012. Attendance is not mandatory; this ceremony is held to assist your admission before the Supreme Court of Virginia.

The Supreme Court of Virginia will convene in a special session to qualify newly licensed attorneys on Wednesday, December 5, 2012, in the Level II Ballroom of the Greater Richmond Convention Center, 403 North 3rd Street, Richmond, Virginia. For directions to the Greater Richmond Convention Center, please go to www.richmondcenter.com. (If you are unable to appear on December 5, you will need to make separate arrangements through the Clerk's Office of the Supreme Court to be admitted at another time. You may reach the Clerk's Office at (804) 786-2251.)

To attend the ceremony it is required that you submit a request via email (no later than November 16) to isley@vsb.org so that your name can be added to the admission list. Be sure to include in the email your full name as you were licensed by the Virginia Board of Bar Examiners and include the number of guests that will accompany you.

The order of events for the Admission & Orientation Ceremony is as follows:

12:30 p.m.       Check-in begins.

  1:15 p.m.       Check-in closes — late arrivals will not be accommodated.

  1:15 p.m.       Orientation program in the Level II Ballroom begins. (Approximately 30 minutes)

  2:00 p.m.       Supreme Court convenes in the Level II Ballroom for the Admission Ceremony.                      

  3:00 p.m.       Estimated time Supreme Court will recess.

 

Proper court attire is required and ALL cell phones must be turned off. Guests needing special accommodations should arrive at the Convention Center by 1:00 p.m. Thank you for your cooperation, as it will help us ensure a successful program.
