Membership
The Trusts and Estates Section had 1,709 members as of October 2012 and 1,773 members as of June, 2013. 

Budget
The budget for fiscal year 2012-13 was $13,695. The budget proposed for 2013-2014 is $13,808. 

31st Annual Trusts and Estates Seminar
In October, the Trusts and Estates Section co-sponsored the 31st Annual Trusts and Estates Seminar with Virginia CLE.  In addition to the usual surveys of Federal and Virginia law developments and ethics, topics included domestic asset protection trusts, fiduciary income taxation, and insolvent estates.

Annual Meeting CLE Program
At the Annual Meeting in June 2013, the Trusts and Estates Section sponsored a continuing legal education program by Andrew Hook and Yama Shansab on “Powers of Attorney in 2013: Legal Drafting, Laws and Landmines.” 

Member Communications
The Trusts and Estates Section published two newsletters, one in the fall of 2012 and another in the spring of 2013.  Each edition included several articles on trust and estates topics and was distributed to all members of the section by e-mail.  Jennifer Shirkey was the newsletter editor and Jennifer Moccia was the assistant newsletter editor.

Telephone Seminar
The section presented a telephone CLE seminar in May through Virginia CLE in which Farhad Aghdami and Christine Piersall presented on Trust Decanting.  As a benefit to section members, the members were sent a code by which the first 133 members to register for the seminar were able to register for free (with the registrations paid by the section).  

Officers
Officers elected for 2013-14 were Nathan R. Olansen, chair; C. Arthur Robinson, vice chair; Jennifer E. Shirkey, secretary; Jennifer L. Moccia, newsletter editor; and C. Daniel Vaughan, assistant newsletter editor.  Southy E. Walton is immediate past chair.
