Local Government Law Section
Phyllis A. Errico, chair
The Local Government Law Section had a productive year in 2008-09. The membership of the section remained steady. The section’s primary focus for this year was the quarterly publication of its Journal of Local Government Law. This publication provides in-depth analysis of important legal issues faced by local government attorneys in the commonwealth. This year we featured articles on many topics, including the Family Medical Leave Act, intellectual property, the Americans with Disabilities Act , ethics, and legislative and Supreme Court updates.
The Local Government Law Section collaborated with the Construction Law and Public Contracts, Environmental Law and Administrative Law sections to present a continuing legal education program on megaprojects. This was presented during the Virginia State Bar Annual Meeting in 2009.
At its annual meeting in June 2009, the section elected Elizabeth K. Dillon of Guynn, Memmer & Dillon PC in Salem, chair; Warren County Attorney Blair D. Mitchell, vice chair; and Karen M. Adams, senior assistant county attorney for Henrico, secretary. Newly elected to the board of governors were Erin C. Ward, an assistant county attorney for Fairfax, and Arlington County Attorney Stephen A. MacIsaac.Updated: Sep 03, 2009
