Special Committee on Information Technology
John M. Tran, Chair
The Committee on Information Technology succeeds and continues the work of the Special Committee on Information Technology and the Computer Committee.
The Committee has no members other than Committee Members, joined by the Bar’s staff to include its’ Executive Director, Karen Gould, Mary Yancey Spencer, Susan Busch, Bill Dickinson and of course, Bar Counsel.
In 2010, the Committee faced a year when budget cuts required the Bar to maintain the status quo and avoid taking on projects that would increase the budget unless absolutely necessary to maintain the computer system. In anticipation of the need to reserve its resources and without the need for discussion or review of new initiatives, the Committee agreed with the assessment of the Bar’s Information Technology Director that any new programs had to wait until 2011.
Leading into 2011, the Committee will continue to look for support and input from Sharon Nelson of Sensei Enterprises, Jeffrey Willis McLeod, Associate Commissioner/ Director of Corporate Development at Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA), John K. Sheldon from the Virginia Information Technologies Agency, Paul McGlone, a solo practitioner in Fairfax and Rodney Allen Satterwhite, a partner and senior tech advisor from McGuireWoods in Richmond.
The Committee’s first meeting will be on October 27, 2010.
